My husband celebrated another year on this earth last week. What a blessing he is to me. So I baked him a pie.

T’was my first attempt at a basket weave top, I have to say, I am quite pleased with how it turned out. The house still smells of the lingering sweetness of apples that were saved from last autumns apple picking trip, and hand rolled flaky pie crust and spice of cinnamon and nutmeg.

We hosted some family for an evening round the fire and topped each slice of pie with a scoop of ice cream.

So, this post isn’t about herbs that will support this, that or the other. It’s not about the latest super food trend, or even a healthier alternative to traditional pie recipes. It’s just an old fashioned, sugar/gluten/carb full pie. A basic, hand made pie crust that was enjoyed with loved ones and celebrated the cooler weather, the crackling fire, and the man who’s blessed us another year with his presence.

As Victoria Fortner always used to say, “Everything in moderation. Including moderation”.

God delights in those who glory and joy in Him. Remember to pause and enjoy the blessings right in front of you this week. Offer thanks for each remembrance of family and friends, brisk autumn mornings, cozy sweaters and boots, hot coffee and tea, and an occasional pie.

“And whatsoever ye do, do it heartily, as to the Lord, and not unto men; Knowing that of the Lord ye shall receive the reward of the inheritance: for ye serve the Lord Christ.” Colossians 3:23-24

What are you thankful for today? What is your favorite kind of pie? Please share in the comments below!

Blessings in Christ,
Kerry
