Bugoff, Bugs!!

It can be hard to find a chemical free bug spray that actually works. Bugoff spray is a safe, natural alternative that will keep the bugs away from you and your family.

Here’s what our customers are saying…

“I love the Bugs Off spray. It really works, is non-irritating, and I really enjoy the fragrance!!!” – Paula B., MO

“Me, my family, my dog & my horse have used this product for years! I would use it exclusively for my horse if I could afford to buy it by the gallon. There’s nothing more satisfying than setting outside in the summer with everyone spraying they’re non-effective “off” and ending up asking if they can use my “bug off” cause I’m the only one not being ate alive. :)” – Rosie B.

“As a mom of 2 teenage boys, I have seen my share of bug bites. It has always been a ritual to spend at least a half an hour picking ticks off after they’ve been outside all day playing…especially after playing paintball in the woods. One time they sprayed their legs and feet with Shawnee Moon’s Bugoff tick spray. After some time in their regular paintball area, they returned bug-LESS! There is no doubt that it works! The best part is knowing it’s safer than what we’ve been using. And it actually smells GOOD! Since then we have seen it work with misquitos as well! I will never be without Bugoff again!” – Stephanie P.

How do natural botanicals make Bugoff so effective?

Catnip aerial – Nepeta cataria – Most commonly known as a enticing treat for kitties, this herb’s strong aromas that draw cats to it has the exact opposite effect on insects! They are driven away by it! It is also astringent, antibiotic, a mild nervine and a soothing relaxant.aromatherapy-essential-oil-bottle

Peppermint essential oil – Mentha piperita – The aromatic properties in this herb are put to use in this product to repel insects, of course. The oil also fights bacteria, is stimulating and can clear the mind to help regain focus.

Citronella essential oil – Cymbopogon nardus, and Cymbopogon winterianus – This oil had to be included in this formula. Commonly called the “Mosquito Plant” or “Citronella Grass” this is the best herbal oil to repel mosquitoes. It is also a natural antiseptic and often used in household disinfectants and soaps.

Cedar wood essential oil- Cedrus atlantica – This essential oil is insecticidal and fungicidal and has been used as a mosquito, fly and flea repellent for many years. It is antiseptic, antispasmodic, astringent, an emenagogue [promoting monthly flow; making it inappropriate for pregnant mothers. Instead, check out our NEW PS Bugoff!!], and sedative.

Eucalyptus essential oil – Eucalyptus is a flowering tree/shrub that is cultivated around the world and mostly native to Australia, with a small number being found in the near by areas of New Guinea and Indonesia. The oil is used to treat lice and skin infections. It is also anti-inflammatory, antispasmodic, a decongestant, antiseptic, antibacterial, and stimulating to the mind. The strong distinctively aromatic properties of this oil is a great defense against insects.

Pennyroyal essential oil – Mentha pulegium, Hedeoma pulegioides – Originating in Europe and Asia, this plant is often used for respiratory disorders, nervous headaches and menstrual disorders. This is another reason mommy’s to be should be careful when using this product, Pennyroyal is an emmenagogue [promotes monthly flow], oxytocic [causes uterine contractions], and abortifactent [cause premature expulsion of a fetus]. Generally, using this herb for these properties, you’d want to take it internally for the optimal results. We know that whatever you put on your skin is absorbed into your body, and must be aware when using essential oils this way. With that in mind, I formulated a new, safer, bug repellent formula leaving out the Cedarwood and Pennyroyal oils; just for mommas! It is called PS Bugoff, check it out!
