I must say for the past 16 years I have gotten poison Ivy from our fence line, and the only over the counter thing I have found to help with the itch and drying up of the blisters is Jewel Wash. I don’t handle itchy skin well, it gives me a certain amount of anxiety. This is a million times better than any cortisone or calamine lotion. It got rid of 99% of the itch from my poison ivy and I could actually sleep.

Have you tried Jewel weed?

How have you used this delicate, summer flowering herb? It is found in cool, shady areas; usually in damp, fertile soil. I often find it growing along springs and always wet areas.

The name comes from the lovely jewel-like flowers that hang from a small stem often hidden under the soft leaves. And also from the jewel tones of not only the flowers, but also the fleshy stems. They are often reddish-purple, all the way down to the ground.

This is one of the herbs that I only use fresh so rely solely on wild-crafting it nearby in a sustainable manner. I am learning more and more about being a self-sufficient herbalist, and I am excited to see how that will unfold in the coming weeks, months and years. (Next on my list to wild craft this year is Elderberry!).
