This plant identification class has been designed to be a introduction into learning to ID plants. Before you can start wild crafting, foraging and harvesting plants, you need to be 100% sure of what you are looking at before you start collecting plant materiel. Especially if you plan to use it as food or medicine!

Here’s what others are saying who have taken this class:

While I am familiar with the names of many plants, I am not very familiar with the plants themselves! This class was a great start for learning what several herbs look like in various stages of growth! I love knowing when I run across some on a hike or on my property! This class was both simple & yet had so much information! Kerry does a great job teachinh about various plants!

Coming from a place of almost no knowledge of identifying plants past a dandelion I did not even know what I didn’t know! Went over the different parts of a plant and the complexities of different leaf shapes and what to look for when identifying! Kerry went over some examples that we might find locally and some plants that are commonly mixed up!

What you will learn:

Because learning plant identification is more about memorizing and comparing shapes than it is about knowing all plants; you will only ever know the plants that you know. If you have never had experience seeing and identifying a particular plant, than you won’t recognize it if you saw it. Just like people are all unique in size shape and color, and you can’t recognize someone if you haven’t learned to identify their particular characteristics through seeing them in person or seeing photos of them; plants are similar.

When I created the notes for this class, I designed it to show you what to start taking notice of in plants. To teach you plant anatomy and technical lingo to help you begin to differentiate one plant from another so you can skillfully discern beneficial plants from non-beneficial plants.

Plant Identification is a life-long pursuit that takes time, patience and practice. Make this class the start of your journey to learning plants and be able to wisely and practically begin using the plants in your own backyard for food and medicine.
